SCUBA DIVING |
|
The diving paradise
Thailand's tropical climate keeps the sea relatively warm,
which is an important factor in diving.
The seabed has many configurations of
cliffs, caves, steep drop-off, wrecks, grottos and vast coral gardens which provide for an
abundance of dive profiles.

The island of Koh Tao lies 70 Km north of Koh
Samui. It has
a surface of 21 Km2 and most of it is covered with palm-trees. The south and west coasts
are wide beaches of white sand. In the north and east are small bays cut into granite
cliffs. Mae Haad, the only "town" of the island is on the south part of the west
coast. It is the arrival and departure point for the boats making the transfers with the
outside.

PHUKET ISLAND DAY DIVES Racha Yai, Racha Noi, Ko Doc Mai, Anemone Reef,
Shark Point, King Cruiser (wreck dive) and the Phi Phi Islands. The dives
of Phuket are as different and diverse as their names suggest. From gentle
sloping coral reefs, to pinnacles and wall dives, Phuket has vast areas of
breathtaking coral reefs, wrecks and marine life to RACHA YAI ISLAND. Visibility 15-30 meters. Depth 3-20 meters. Dives on the east side are with easy conditions, clear water and a good variety' of marine life. Dives on the west side consist mostly of granite rocks, sparse coral growth, invertebrates and a good variety' of reef fish. Racha Yai Island is the perfect place for a diver to do a check dive. SHARK POINT. Visibility 10-20 meters. Depth 3-25 meters. Shark Point is classified as a Marine Sanctuary. This reef is home to an incredible profusion of sea creatures with soft and hard corals, tropical and pelagic fish and Leopard-Sharks for great pictures. The density and diversity of marine life here is favorably compared to the best coral reefs anywhere in the world. KING CRIUSER (WRECK DIVE). Visibility 10-25 meters. The 70 meters steel hulled passenger ferry had been sunk on May 1997 by hurting Anemone Reefs. That huge catamaran rests within the zone of Shark Point Marine Sanctuary in about 30 meters of water on a sandy bottom. Divers can swim through most of the wreck. RACHA NOI ISLAND. Visibility 15-30 meters. Depth 3-30 meters. Dives consist of rocky slopes, coral gardens and huge rock pinnacles. Marine life here includes both hard and soft corals, crinoids of many colors, and a wide variety of reef fish with occasionally pelagic fish. Many divers compare the dive spot with those in the Similan/Surin Islands.
ANEMONE REEF Visibility 10-25 meters, Depth 4-26 meters. Anemone Reef is a collection of Rocky Plateaus. As you might guess, the top part of the reef is smothered in sea anemones; there are many resident clown fish, shrimps and porcelain crabs. Elsewhere on the reef you will find large clusters of soft corals and enormous sea fans. At its deepest point, a solitary rock is home to a group of moray eels. This dive site is for divers of all levels. PHI-PHI ISLANDS. Phi-Phi Islands offers numerous walls, caverns and caves, as well as shallow coral gardens and sloping reefs. Typical sights include both hard and soft coral, nudi branchs, shellfish and many other invertebrates. Fish life is abundant and range from coral reef fish to leopard shark or whale sharks.
